Hotel points expire quietly and free-night certificates expire on a schedule that has nothing to do with your plans. A certificate you are not going to redeem is the clearest case on this site: it costs nothing to hold, it is worth a real amount to somebody with dates, and then one day it is worth nothing at all.
Hotel programmes are also the ones most likely to permit a transfer of some kind — point transfers between members, or a booking made in somebody else's name. Which of those a deal depends on changes everything about how it is arranged.

Transferring points into another member's account and booking a room in their name are different things with different rules. Guest of Honor style benefits are a third thing again.
Check the transfer conditions and any cap
Programmes that allow member-to-member movement usually cap the amount, charge a fee, or require both accounts to have been open for a period. Read the current terms before quoting a price.
Match the certificate to the stay
A category-capped certificate is only worth what it can book. Confirm the property and the dates are actually available on it before either side commits.
Worth knowing
Hotel programmes generally state that buying, selling or bartering points and awards violates their terms, and they can cancel a reservation or close an account. Check your own terms and make your own decision.

Can hotel points be transferred to another person?
Several programmes allow it under conditions — a cap on the amount, a fee, or a minimum account age. World of Hyatt is the one most often used this way. The terms in your own account are the version that counts.
What is a free-night certificate worth?
Whatever the best property it can book is worth on the buyer's dates, minus the risk that the property is not available. A category-capped certificate in a shoulder season routinely out-earns the points it would take to book the same night, which is why they are worth listing rather than letting lapse.
Do I have to hand over my account login?
Never. No legitimate exchange needs your password or a one-time code, and anyone asking for them should be reported. Every listing page carries a report control for exactly this.
Is there a fee to list?
No. Listing is free, there is no commission on what you agree, and BuySellPoints is not party to the payment or the transfer.
