About BuySellPoints
A marketplace for the points, miles and perks people are never going to use, built by travelers who kept watching them expire.
Who we are
We are a small, independent team of people who take points seriously — the kind who check award space before booking a hotel, and who have a spreadsheet somewhere with expiry dates on it. BuySellPoints is not owned by a bank, an airline or a loyalty program, and nobody pays us to feature anything.
That independence is the point. A marketplace that took commissions on trades would have an interest in more trades happening. We would rather be useful than busy.
Why we built it
Every year an enormous amount of travel value quietly disappears. Certificates go unredeemed. Credits reset unused. Balances lapse in accounts nobody logs into any more. Meanwhile somebody two time zones away would have happily paid for the exact thing that just expired.
The only thing missing was a straightforward, public place for those two people to find each other and talk. Not an auction house, not a broker taking a cut — just a listing and a conversation.
What we are not
We do not hold points, process payments, or act as escrow. We do not move anything between accounts. Members agree terms with each other and carry out the transfer themselves, which is why the guides and the conversation history matter as much as the listings do.
What we believe
- Free should mean free. No listing fees, no commission, no subscription, no premium tier. If that ever has to change, it will be said plainly and in advance.
- Claim only what you can show. Every badge on a member's profile is earned by something countable, and says which rule earned it. We would rather show a thin profile than a flattering one.
- Rules belong to the programs. Airlines and hotels set their own terms and change them without notice. Our guides tell you what to check; they never tell you it is fine.
- The conversation stays here. Threads are private between two members and stay on the platform, so there is a record of what was agreed.
Our favourite ways to use points

Category 1–4 free night certificates
The most forgiving certificate in travel. They cost nothing extra to hold, and a Category 4 property in a shoulder season routinely out-earns the points it would take to book the same night.
Partner awards in a premium cabin
The one redemption where points genuinely beat cash rather than matching it. It needs award space and flexibility, which is exactly what most people do not have when they need the seat.
Companion fares
Unglamorous and reliably worth more than the annual fee that produced them. The catch is that they expire on a schedule that has nothing to do with your plans.
Statement credits you will not use
A credit for a service you do not want is worth close to nothing to you and close to face value to somebody who already buys it. Most of the perks on this marketplace are exactly this.
